Special Olympics Missouri Outdoor Games 9-28-18 to 9-30-18

9-28-18 (Thursday)
Jesse and I rode with our Lee’s Summit team. We drove to Jefferson City, our main coach picked up the packet for our team. The team who drove with us went on a tour at the TLC, so it was good to see the staff! For dinner we had pizza, it was thin crust, I kept thinking “this is the kind my moms likes”. Got into our rooms, and relaxed. It’s 9:46pm. And I’m already really tired. Tomorrow is when we all play bocce!! This will be my first time playing bocce at state. Last year I would of played but my family and I went on a cruise. I’m off to bed.
9-29-18 (Friday)
The alarm went off at 6:15am. It’s 7:06am. I’m eating breakfast with the team. We have bocce today, and opening ceremony later this evening. And the opening ceremony will be outside. It’s usually inside. But this year they changed it.

It’s 9:29 pm. I’m ready for bed! So today was a long but good day. I got gold in unified doubles and silver in singles. I was nervous when I competed. But I did pretty good. I did very well for my 1st time playing bocce at state. I also helped today with bocce by holding the paddle, Jesse got silver place in singles and got bronze for doubles. and that was fun! I was a little nervous with helping, but I got a handle of it. At the opening ceremonies, I helped by handing our plague to the sponsors, and that was fun! It was fun to see my other friends, that I haven’t seen in awhile, so that was fun, it’s time for bed, softball tomorrow! 


9-29-18 (Saturday) woke up at 6:15am. Got ready for the day, ate breakfast. After breakfast we all got all of our stuff ready and went to the softball fields. It was a little chilly throughout the day. But the weather was perfect to play softball. Our both games was even matched. The first game score was 17 to 11 and the second game score was 11 to 8. The second game I took the one for the team. I stoped the softball with my leg (and got the bruise to show). The second game it took me awhile to get into the groove, in the second half I got better! Overall, we got GOLD!! We all were very excited! After we got fresh up, we went to the TLC to go to the healthy athletes, it was SO awesome too see so many athletes who went through. After that we went to dinner. Then the dance was next on the dance. The dance was at the backyard of TLC. Between the time of the dance, team MO 2018  had a little reunion. That was very nice! The whole team wasn’t there. We got a memory book, so that was SO cool to see and have and got autographs. And got to see a video (we were the first one to see it) I tried really hard not to cry. Lol. After all of that, another athlete (Allen Tobin who is on SOMO TV) interviewed Lynn and I, about our Health training at Washington DC! That was awesome! After that went back to the hotel with my parents and Jesse. Visited with the team and had snacks! I was SO tired when I got back. I only visited a couple of minutes then went back into the hotel room, packed up and went to bed. I was SO tired! I really liked the lunches. Everyone played SO well at softball. We all made great plays and hit the softball! Oh...and we had ice cream twice this weekend...shhh don’t tell no one! Lol 

9-27-18 Departure from DC

It’s 9:05am. I’m on the airplane to go back to KC! My dad woke me up at 7:30am, my alarm did not go off, I figured why the alarm did not go off, because the alarm was on a different day, good one Lynna! Lol. We had breakfast at the airport, it was really good! I had a hard time going to sleep last night. I really don’t know why. But it’s okay. 

We landed at Kansas Citt at 11am. Allen and I claimed our suitcases and my dad went to get the van. We waited for dad, there was miss communication with dad and I. I really need to work on that. We dropped Allen off to his house. On our way home, dad listened to one of his favorite singers (back in the day) lol. When we got home, I was welcomed with a big kisses from my dogs (Winston & Henry) and got a big hug from my mom. It was so good to see them! I had to unpack quickly, I had to pack for the special Olympics Missouri outdoor games, I’m really excited for the weekend! Excited to see my friends I don’t see very often, and team MO 2018 reunion.  Ok I’m sorry..I’m getting off topic, now I’m going to talk about my first conference for Healthy Athlete Messenger! Okay here it goes:
What I liked: meeting new people from different states, I even met some people from Canada! Learned a lot of new information. Exploring DC! Eating fresh seafood! Making new friends. Breakfast and lunch was really good and healthy! I liked to stay in a hotel room by myself (I felt more independent) What I did not like: I would prefer more breaks (but I understand why they didn’t have too many breaks through sessions),  I would like to have handouts of what we talked about and on who presented. Other than that, I thought it was REALLY awesome! Now I have to do my practicum, wish me good luck! I wish my fellow health messenger athletes good luck while they are doing their practicum.

(Backup) Day three: health messenger training 9-26-18

Woke up before my alarm, just a few minutes. It’s 7:27am. Ready for more training. In the afternoon today I will talk about my practicum. A little nervous about that but I know I will be fine!  Wow!! What a day I had! I presented today, visited another museum and at seafood! Yum! I worked on my practicum in the morning and presented it at the afternoon. Listened to some of the other athletes practicum and they all had great ideas! After all of that, went to a museum, this museum was about NASA, it was really neat, then after that we met up with Allen, had a dinner at Seafood place, fresh seafood, you can’t get better than that!! Then after that came back to the hotel and chatted with some friends, took pics, then I’m going to pack for tomorrow, our flight isn’t that early, so that’s good! It’s 8:05pm and I’m already for bed!

(Backup) (Backup) Day Two 9-25-18

Woke up at 7:30am, eating breakfast , it’s 12:47pm, just finished lunch, we had salmon, salad, rice and Caesar salad. In the morning, we had training and it was really good! 

It’s 5:29pm. The session ended, and a group of us are going on a tour. But first dinner. I learned a lot today, we made up our own workout, put things like (oranges, strawberries etc in our water, talked about stretching, what is healthy, emotionally and physically.  And we played a few games. It was a good day.

It’s 10:24pm, been back from the tour for an hr. It was a blast! Was great weather for it too! Saw the White House from a far! But I still got a good pic. There was a group of us who went on a tour. It was very nice and educational. Another full day tomorrow!
