New Years 2019 (highlights of 2018)

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

What a year 2018 was! So many great memories I endured, I will never forget them! I really can’t believe the year of  2018 is literally done with, I’m looking forward what 2019 will offer me, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Below is some of my memories I experienced:

-I participated in Special Olympics National Games at Seattle! (Jesse *my brother* went too) we each received 4 medals!! Saw so many great places there and I didn’t know theywere even there lol I have family who lives close to Seattle and at Seattle.

-Was chosen to be trained as a health messenger for SOI and SOMO (special olympics missouri).

- Received exciting news that I will graduate from ALPs (athlete leadership programs) (SOMO program) I will graduate with an communication degree!! I was SO happy when I found out!! I felt very accomplished! But I’m not going to stop there, I also want to go back and get my technology degree..,(I love technology!)

- I started on my own project, helping other athletes about doing stretches and having weekly Wellness Wednesday tips videos! I’m looking forward to do more videos in the incoming year!

My goals for 2019 are :
*To get healthier lunches at the state games (that’s a big project)
*Exercise daily (I mean really exercising, pushing myself!)
*Eating healthier (helping other athletes with this as well)
*Perform better in my sports!!
* Do more weekly wellness Wednesday tip videos!
* Spending more time with family (niece and nephew)
I would like to say thank you to everyone who reads my posts and shares it! When I started this blog...I didn’t know where it would lead me, or if anyone would read it. It always amazes me when. I found out how many people read my blog! Thank you again for reading my blog and keep an eye out (or eyes) for new posts in 2019!! Happy New Years!! *Be Healthy, Be Happy*

TLC Camp 11-17-18 to 11-18-18

11-17-18 Woke up at 5:30am. Got ready and finished last minute packing. Mom and I went to Lone Jack Sonic to pick up Jennifer (Lee’s Summit athlete and TLC charter athlete). We are on our way to TLC (training for Life Campus) in Jefferson City. It’s about 1 hr. and 50 mins away. Arrived at TLC at 8:16am. There were four groups and I was in the royals! Woohoo go royals! It’s 8:31pm. What a day I had!! I learned how to play pickle ball, it’s like tennis, it was interesting. But it was fun. I also played volleyball, basketball, weight training, (I really liked to learn about weight training, I’ve never done it before) (except at Sports Camp) and floor ball.(floor ball was really fun, I made a goal! We learned about safety on social media, healthy eating, healthy athletes and about building relationships, that was my favorite! For lunch we had pulled pork, chips and bite sized cookie. For dinner we had salad, turkey, ham, stuffing, mash potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie but it wasn’t lol. We had relay competition for the evening activity, that was SO much fun! Now I’m tired!! Before I forget, SOMO announced the winner for the raffle of a new car!! I was so happy for the winner, it was a family who has a young family.

11-18-18 WOW what a morning I had! So let’s start from the beginning. Woke up this morning I woke up at 6:30am. Got ready and packed, after that went to breakfast, had biscuits and gravy...I know that isn’t healthy, but it was SO good! First thing when we arrived  at TLC we went to stretching, so I learned some new stretches. So that was awesome! My I nerves got the best of me this morning, I don’t know why I’ll allowed that to happen, my plan is to push them away next time. After the stretching I did my speech,  I felt really good about it! I got a lot of compliments on my speech, and that made me feel SO good! Then we went to athlete input council, there we talked about what we didn’t like AND what we did like. There was some great suggestions from everyone! Went to the gym and got into groups and we did some small groups activities. At first it was out of my comfort zone, but when the activity went on I was less nervous! I actually acted, and I really don’t do that much, and it felt really good when I did that!

I’m SO glad I came this weekend, and it made it more enjoyable to have my teammate there, Jennifer! I’m also grateful my mom brought me, thank you SO much mom! I really liked that they offered new sports! I really liked that’ I can’t wait to play them again! The Special Olympics Missouri staff, thank you SO much for everything you do, and the volunteers thank you for making time to help us!

(Backup) Special Olympics Missouri Area Bowling tournament 11-3-18

Woke up at 6:30am this morning, today is the area tournament for KC metro, STLM (st. louis metro) and North area (Kirksville).  I wish everyone good luck! Remember our oath “ Let me win. But if I cannot win, Let me brave in the attempt.” I can’t wait to see how I do, I just need to remember some things, but it will be a great tournament. I can’t wait to see my area friends! I got SILVER today, I think I bowled very well today, Jesse got GOLD, I was very happy for him!! My scores was 90 and 78. Jesse amd I bowled at 8am.  Lee’s Summit Athletes did an awesome job today!! I loved to see smile faces, and there were a lot of smiling faces all around! That’s my favorite part to see! It was great to see old friends, I saw Alania, she was on team MO for bowling, she got GOLD, awesome job! Jesse and I gave the owner of Lunar Bowl a picture of us to say thank you for all of their support they have given us! The volunteer who helped at my lane, he’s name is Vincent, he was very nice and encouraged everyone, I really like to see that. I think the things that helped me today, was saying to myself  “calm down, think, and have fun” my nerves likes to get the best of me when I competed today, and guess what I beat them today!
